YouTube Tutorial

Part of this year’s Teen Summer Challenge revolves around making YouTube videos. Don’t know where to start? We’ve made this handy dandy tutorial.

Get an account

YouTube sign-in is tied to a Google account. Do you have a gmail.com email? Great! You already have a Google account. All you need to do is click on the ‘sign in’ button and use your email account to sign in.

No gmail? You will need to create a google account

Subscribe to our channel

Once you have your account, find the Pierce County Library’s Teen Summer Challenge channel and subscribe by clicking the subscribe button.

Create your own channel

Before you start uploading your own videos, it’s a good idea to create your own channel. Click the three lines in the top left corner for a drop down menu, and click on ‘My channel’.

You will be prompted to create a channel.

Now you can edit the channel description and start uploading videos!

Make videos

Do you have a smartphone? Great! Download the YouTube app, login, and record videos by clicking on the video camera icon.

You don’t? The library has a solution for you. The following branches have Chromebooks for in-library check out:

  • South Hill
  • Sumner
  • Tillicum
  • Key Center
  • Parkland/Spanaway

With our Chromebooks you can record and upload video by going to clipchamp.com.  You will sign in with your Google account.

From clipchamp, you can share directly to YouTube.

Complete the challenges!

We hope that many of you will upload videos for the challenges. If you have any questions about how any of this works, feel free to contact us.
